We study whether investing extra time in leisure has a good or negative influence on career sustainability by either producing or draining resources, based on Conservation of Resources (COR) theory. Using data on within-person changes over the course of seven monthly surveys, we investigate the impact of leisure time on career-related resources of resilience and self-efficacy. As a result, we claim that the impacts of leisure on resources are determined by the interaction of a) how people approach their leisure activities, particularly the amount of "seriousness" of a leisure activity.
